June 2010 - Mt Brisbane hosts International Benchmarking Delegation

It was our pleasure to recently host an “International Benchmarking Delegation”.  The group was made up of representatives from a mix of countries, they travel the world rating Agriculture globally.  The visit was organised by DEEDI and as far as we are aware we were the only rural property they visited, other visits were undertaken to feedlots and processors.   We have since been advised a Mt Brisbane bull featured prominently on the front cover of their newsletter.

Bruce McConnel nabs top ambassador title: Story ~ Queensland Country Life

Top Queensland young ambassador for 2008, Bruce McConnel (pictured), has won the national title against all other State and New Zealand finalists at Hobart Royal Show on October 22.
Bruce, aged 28, has been agribusiness manager of NAB at Gatton for two years, having joined NAB seven years ago.
Raised on the land, and graduating with a bachelor of agribusiness from the University of Queensland Gatton Campus, Bruce is one of five children of John and Carli McConnel of the Mt Brisbane Droughtmaster stud at Esk.
After winning the Marsh insurance sponsored Queensland final run by the Queensland Chamber of Agricultural Societies at the 2008 Brisbane Royal, Bruce threw his energies into a next generation committee for the Queensland chamber, an initiative that is thought to have given him a winning edge in the national final judging. His next goal is to develop a similar next generation committee within the Federal Chamber of Agricultural Societies to further the cause of the show movement on a national level.
Bruce and wife Alison’s first child, a boy, Lachlan Robert, was born on August 23.

Queensland Country Life ~ Signature Properties Liftout, 23 December 2008

Mt Brisbane :: Signature Properties“Mt Brisbane” was identified as a Queensland Signature Property and profiled in the Queensland Country Life.

It is rare, these days, to find a property which has remained in the same family for more a century. In the increasingly populated, sub-divided, and infrastructure-dissected Brisbane Valley, it is even rarer. So the McConnels of Mt Brisbane, on the shores of  Wivenhoe dam can rightly be proud of a long history of family management and ownership. [...See full story]
